PGQ Directors Forum
The Public Galleries Queensland Directors Forum (or PGQ Directors Forum) is an annual special general meeting of the PGQ membership. In 2016, the PGQ Directors Forum replaced the Queensland Assembly of Regional Gallery Directors (or QARGD), which was disbanded in 2015. Established in 2011, QARGD was a regular meeting specifically for regional and public gallery directors in Queensland to discuss issues affecting the sector; providing a forum to share experiences; support project development; and most importantly lobby with one shared voice. Approximately four or five QARGD meetings were held between 2011 and 2015.
The Board of PGQ were supportive of QARGD, and in 2016 decided to continue these meetings under the stewardship of PGQ as the PGQ Directors Forum. The Forum convenes on an annual basis in South East Queensland (for example, at The State Library of Queensland for ease of funding and transport for members). The Forum is an invitation only event for the most senior gallery staff members who are members of the PGQ. These meetings are an opportunity to discuss significant sector issues; to network and learn more about our peer organisations from a senior management perspective; hear from guest speakers; and of course lobby with a shared voice.
The inaugural Directors Forum was held in December 2016. The Board was delighted with the attendance and trusts that the popularity and relevance of The Forum will continue to grow. Invitations are by special invitation only.
